Before a prototype is cut, we review whether the brief can be produced as specified. This is not sampling. It is the work that decides last family, materials and what the first sample should prove. Brands that skip this step usually pay for a sample that cannot be bulked — wrong last, wrong outsole, or a material that will not hold the construction. We would rather list the gaps in writing than cut a sample against an incomplete brief.

• Feasibility review — construction, material family, last type and packing notes, then a list of what is still missing before a sample can be made. If the silhouette or process sits outside what we can support, we say so in the first reply.
• Last and outsole matching — match an existing last and outsole to the silhouette where they fit, and flag when the shape needs a different last before sampling starts. Matching first keeps the sample useful for bulk.
• Material and cost engineering — upper, lining, midsole and packing options chosen for the destination market and the construction, not a generic default. We map options to the brief so the sample is costed against a real material path.
• Prototype planning — which sample to make first, and what must be locked (last, materials, colours) before the sample clock starts. One construction, one colourway, one last is the usual first sample so comments stay specific.
